Tucked away at the end of a quiet road and hidden by a dense band of trees is Edenwood—an expansive park-like garden with many unexpected surprises!
Owners Bev and Stephen are keen re-cyclers, and starting from the ornate iron fence along the front boundary, they have used pre-owned materials to construct the many distinctive structures in the garden. All have been sourced at bargain prices and painstakingly rebuilt or recreated.
The tall trees create a cool shady woodland feel, but in the sunny spaces, garden beds, some bordered with low hedges, are planted with shrubs and a pretty mix of spring flowers - roses, foxgloves, forget-me-nots, aquilegias, and other old-fashioned favourites. Apricot Crepuscule roses clamber over the house, and an elegant pre-loved gazebo makes a lovely sitting spot amongst the shrubbery.
The property covers 2.5 acres, and behind the house is another extensive area, informal in style and dotted with more mature trees, lush planting, lawned areas and an amazing assortment of unique structures, each bought in pieces and given a new life at Edenwood.
There is another smaller gazebo, a ruin, a studio created with leadlight windows brought from interstate, a huge covered orchard that doubles as a happy home to a family of guinea pigs, a picturesque lake spanned with a charming bridge, a putting green, a children’s garden and a long rainforest walk planted with ferns, staghorns, birds nest ferns and bromeliads.
Edenwood is a rambling country garden – almost like a garden theme park where visitors can wander and discover the attractions!
