Full of interest and colour, Bostonvista has been thoughtfully designed to take advantage of the site and striking coastal views

BOSTON

October 2023

From a vacant block just eight years ago, Bostonvista has matured to become a beautiful and interesting garden with fabulous views over undulating farmland to Boston Bay and Boston Island.

With stone unearthed in the excavation for the house, the owners have built 163 metres of stone walls and an amazing entrance of mosaicked steps which lead down from the home to the garden, where beds of roses, bearded iris, rosemary, lavender, poppies, succulents and natives create a blaze of colour.

A copse of wattles has created a natural shade house for impatiens, fuchsias, ferns, hellebores, iresine and begonias. Groups of native plants, proteas and many varieties of succulents, some in unusual quirky, colourful containers are scattered through the drier parts of the garden.

Clumps of grasses, iris, daylilies and cannas have been planted to enhance a natural rocky watercourse which flows to a small pond at the bottom of the garden. Railway sleepers form crossings over the creek and a pair of rusted steel fishermen stand beside the pond.

An immaculate veggie garden fenced to keep out rabbits, and a fully enclosed orchard with 20 fruit trees supply the household with fresh produce throughout the year. Treasures from local op shops re-purposed as garden art add personality and complement the planting.

Size: 2.5 acres
