Nearly a decade ago, Wendy and Luan set out to transform an unassuming property in the Adelaide Hills into a sustainable haven for family, friends and guests. Today, Mylor Farm is a living showcase of what can be achieved with care, creativity and respect for the land. Each part of the property tells a story of productivity, beauty and harmony with nature.
At its heart is the productive garden, lovingly tended and continually improved over the years. With its recently refreshed layout, new garden beds, irrigation and growing systems, the patch now supports a wide variety of heirloom vegetables. Tomatoes, pumpkins, garlic, chillies, rainbow chard, potatoes, lettuces, Asian greens, and more provide fresh produce throughout the seasons, ensuring a harvest that changes with the seasons for the household and their guests.
A newly built chook house and run are home to a lively flock of heritage hens. Beyond supplying fresh eggs, the chooks are vital partners in the garden, helping with pest control and providing compost to keep the soil rich and healthy. They are also a favourite with visitors, always ready to add a bit of character and cheer.
Just a short stroll away, the picking garden bursts with colour. Seasonal flowers and bulbs not only brighten the farm but also draw in pollinators and beneficial insects. Guests are welcome to gather a bunch of blooms to bring the outside in, adding a splash of nature’s beauty to their stay.
The orchard features more than 90 fruit trees, including peaches, apples, figs, quinces, olives, pomegranates, cherries, apricots and persimmons. Each tree adds to the seasonal abundance, complementing the vegetables and ensuring a wide variety of fresh produce throughout much of the year.
Beyond the orchard lies a dedicated orphaned kangaroo sanctuary —a calm, protected space where local wildlife can move freely in their natural habitat.
Together, these gardens, orchards, flowers, chooks and wildlife create a vibrant ecosystem that reflects Wendy and Luan’s vision. Mylor Farm is not just their beautiful home and Airbnb—it is an invitation to experience the joy of growing, harvesting, and connecting with the land.
