Description

A 3-acre country garden with many roses beautifully combined with annuals, perennials and bulbs in colour coordinated beds. Pergolas, veranda posts and outbuildings support more climbing roses and a wisteria grows on another pergola. Garden beds are all edged with flint stones collected on the property.

Bulbs are planted in the thousands – there are lilies, daffodils, jonquils, freesias, iris, day lilies and more. Adding extra colour are agapanthus, fuchsias, windflowers, lavender, catmint and a huge variety of shrubs. Shade is provided by the many established trees - silver birches, spruce, corkscrew willows, viburnums and dogwoods are favourites.

An old orchard provides a variety of fruits and there is a well-stocked kitchen garden. Two big blue stone edged ponds are enjoyed by the ducks and provide a lovely view over the water to the garden. Several old buildings hold collections of pre-loved garden tools and other interesting memorabilia.

3 acres, 1.2ha.

The nominated charity is the Lions Club of Port MacDonnell.
