Description

Tens of thousands of spring bulbs create a stunning sea of blue, cream and gold at the entrance to this romantic country garden created on the slight slope of a hill.

Muscari, bluebells and dark blue hyacinths combine with freesias, daffodils, primroses and snowflakes against a backdrop of mature ornamental trees. Tulips, orchids, rockery plants and carpets of cyclamen will appeal to plant connoisseurs. Slate and grass paths beneath the delicate foliage of silver birches link areas and lead to a series of five waterfalls and pools which add gentle sound to the natural beauty. The largest pond is home to a family of sizable goldfish. A line of white flowering Manchurian pears looks spectacular under planted with spring star flowers, tulips, daffodils and English bluebells. A pale pink flowering Pissardi plum, several May bushes with arching branches laden with masses of tiny white flowers, vivid blue native hibiscus and purple toned perennial wallflowers add yet more colour to the garden.

Seats crafted from logs and slate invite leisurely contemplation of the superb rural landscape.

Chinese elm trees, liquidambar, Washington thorn, birches, a large flowering quince, Manchurian pears and a huge lemon scented gum add height, shelter and shade to the garden.

2 acres, 0.8ha

The nominated charities for this garden are the Christian Blind Mission and World Vision Famine Relief.
