The first sight upon entering the garden is a swath of green lawn surrounded by more layers of green foliage. Towering above the lawn are conifers, maples and eucalypts, the oldest of which is 400 years old!

Paulownias and arbutus stand on a lower level and an understorey of camellias, viburnums and azaleas thrive in the shade provided by the trees.

In sunnier beds, foxgloves, lilies, fuchsias and poppies predominate.

A paved area features a fountain, and on the southern side of the house is a terraced area which includes a vegetable garden. From the north-facing deck, a bird feeder is placed to attract birds, and the view over the garden and the ‘borrowed’ landscape of tree tops makes the 1.5 acre garden appear much larger.

The house was built in the 1930s and has had only three owners, the present ones being in residence for nearly 50 years.

Size: 1.5 acres, 0.6ha.

The Charity nominated for this garden is the Mylor Red Cross.
