An inspirational young garden sited on a hillside with superb views stretching over a picturesque valley of vineyards to distant Barossa Ranges.
Australian natives and Mediterranean plants selected for their hardiness and low water requirements create a harmonious but visually interesting understory dotted with small groups of trees and the occasional big old gum.

A wide path bordered with plants leads around the garden past a rocky winter watercourse softened with the lush grasses at its edges, then onto a grove of white crepe myrtles under-planted with a colourful collection of iris, past a ‘petanque piste’ to a seasonal pond that fills after a shower of rain. A large lawn in front of the house provides a vantage point over the garden to the spectacular views beyond.

Numerous species of grasses are planted throughout the garden, many of them indigenous to the area and their flowing, graceful form contrasts with and complements the mounding shapes of the shrubs, succulents and ground covers that blend beautifully with the adjoining natural bushland.

Several interesting sculptures provide added interest. Behind the artist owner’s studio, raised wooden beds are planted with an assortment of vegetables. Bring your walking shoes to venture up the track to the top of the hill behind the garden. The view from the top is even better than from the garden!

3 acres, 1.2ha.
