Through the gates and past the big screen that was once the Riverline drive-in is a large, lush 2.5 acre garden planted in an impressive setting of rock retaining and gabion walls. Extensive paving, a stony dry creek bed, pond with cascading waterfall and water features have been skilfully created using hundreds of tonnes of local stone.

Meandering paths pass through beds of fragrant roses, colourful annuals, bright bulbs, natives, shrubs, screening hedges and shady trees to a charming old style bed & breakfast cottage constructed using recycled materials dating back to 1850.

A huge pond planted with lilies and reeds is home to fish, frogs and yabbies and surrounded with palm trees, creates an oasis like feel. An impressive curved wisteria arbour leads to a circular Tuscan inspired space. A mulberry tree dating back to 1923 and Grandma’s collection of 45 year old roses have all been happily transplanted into the once flat drive in area.

Dotted throughout are various historic farm implements and a collection of rustic sculptures including a life size horse and cart. Produce from the fruit tree orchard, vegetable garden and chickens help to the keep the owners self-sufficient.

2.5 acres, 1ha

On the edge of the Loxton township, it was the Old Loxton Drive-in – look out for the movie screen!
